================================================================
The Fire Fighters BP program was created in 2017 in response to the high number of premature deaths from stroke and heart attack among Fire Fighters. According to 20 years of OSHA data, heart attack in firefighters is the number one cause of line of duty deaths nationwide.
The Fire Fighters BP program connects Fire Fighters directly with - the Mt. Sinai Cardiology Team.
The Fire Fighters BP program identifies untreated or inadequately treated High Blood pressure — the number one killer of first responders while on duty — and connects the Fire Fighter with the Mount Sinai Cardiology Team as needed to provide the best possible testing and care.
Most importantly, the BP program provides on-going BP monitoring so you will not develop high BP without being aware of it. You can have high BP for decades and never realize it.
How does the Fire Fighters BP program brings the Mount Sinai Cardiology Team to you?
You can receive a free WIRELESS BP cuff from your Union. OR you are also invited to purchase a wireless BP cuff on your own (QardioArm.com - Discount code ORES20 at checkout). You measure your pressure twice a month if under 40 years old. And weekly of you are over 40 years old. Mt. Sinai cardiology gets your measurements as they happen.
In this way, your blood pressure cannot creep up over years without your awareness.
The goal of the Fire Fighters BP program is to identify, manage and prevent elevated blood pressure (HTN or Hypertension) over years and even decades to reduce heart disease and stroke for all fire fighters. With 100% confidentially.
You may receive CONFIDENTIAL follow up medical recommendations from the Mt. Sinai cardiology team and/or David Ores, MD of HPFR, Inc.
You are also encouraged to contact your own doctor with any questions or concerns as you continue to self-monitor your blood pressure each year.
With continued self-monitoring, elevated blood pressure will be identified and addressed years or even decades earlier and then you can avoid irreversible heart damage, premature stroke and heart attack.
Prevent High Blood Pressure
By participating in the Fire Fighters Hypertension Prevention Program, you will be part of a larger effort to reduce and prevent hypertension (the common killer) for all Fire Fighters. And the life you save may be your own.
Thank you,
Dave Ores, MD President & Founder, HPFR, Inc.*
